myQ Video Doorbell

As a UX Designer on a cross-functional co-op team, I helped define and design a end-to-end product experience that extends myQ into front door access space, aiming to give users intuitive, secure, and convenient monitoring access.

We laid the groundwork for the product that was launched in May of 2025 by myQ.

How might we help users feel aware and secure at their front door through intuitive and convenient monitoring?

As a part of our design approach, we built out the entire user experience across the products lifecycle from setup to continued use. We integrated innovative approaches across the app experience to optimize control and monitoring devices across myQ’s entire product suite in specified home zones.

total addressable market

The global smart home security market is expected to reach $112.6B by 2030.

Almost 25% of this market is made up by smart doorbells.

Smart Home Security Market Size, Share | Forecast - 2032

From interested buyers to owners, we found through a survey of 65 people...

The majority see smart doorbells as an added layer of security that gives them the ability to monitor and capture activity at their front door.

Persona Needs

Consumers want innovative security that’s both easy to use and intuitive.

“it's a doorbell... although it can record the audio/video, it's not going to call for help, or stop any actual crime, so the doorbell itself isn't able to make me "feel safe".. but i do feel safer having the video recordings should something happen.” -P4
